Browser Support: Computer Instructions on Finding Physical Hardware MAC Address

General Guidelines

  1. Supported Systems: a. Windows b. macOS
  2. Purpose: The MAC address is a unique 12-character identifier for network-connected devices, formatted as alphanumeric strings separated by colons, dashes, or other delimiters. Example formats include:
    • 01:23:45:67:AB:EF
    • 01-23-45-67-AB-EF

Finding MAC Address

On Windows Devices

  1. Open Settings from the taskbar.

2. Navigate to:

a. Network & Internet

b. Choose Wi-Fi or Ethernet (based on your connection).

3. Select Hardware properties.


4. Locate Physical address (MAC) at the bottom of the window.

Outcome: You can find the MAC address on your Windows device.

On macOS Devices

  1. Click the Apple logo (top left) and select System Settings.

2. Navigate to:

a. Network on the left side of your screen.

b. Choose Wi-Fi or Ethernet (based on your connection).

3. Click Details....

4. Select the Hardware tab on the left side of your screen.

5. Your MAC Address will be displayed at the top.
