Projector Control Panel

The projector control panel is found on the wall to the left of the Instructor's desk. To begin, press the "Enter" button in the bottom right corner of the screen. The control panel touch screen is not very sensitive and you may need to press the button firmly.

Next, on the login screen, use the numpad to enter the access pin. Then, press the "SUBMIT" button at the bottom center of the screen. If you do not have the access pin send a request to btechts@mcmaster.ca

On successful login, the AV system will turn on. Visually you will see a progress bar appear on screen, followed by the controls screen shown below:

The control panel allows independently selecting which input is display to which screen. Reference room overview for projector location. There are 3 possible inputs to pick for each projector:

  • Desktop PC 1 (The main monitor on the Instructor's desk)
  • Desktop PC 2 (The secondary screen to the left on the Instructor's desk)
  • Laptop PC (Input from the provided HDMI cable, see Projecting From a Laptop)

The Hide/Show button beneath each column is used to individually turn on or off each projector.

When finished with the AV system, please turn it off by using the "TURN SYSTEM OFF" button in the upper right corner of the control panel. This button needs to be held down for 2 seconds. On success, you will hear a beep and the screen will show a shutdown progress bar (example below):

Projecting From the Desktop

  • Begin by logging into the Instructor Desktop computer
  • Follow the instructions in Projector Control Panel to turn on the AV system
  • By default the main (righthand side) monitor will be projected to the screens. The Control panel can be used to switch one or both of the screens to display the content of the instructor's secondary monitor (Desktop 2 on the control panel)
  • USB drives may be connected to the Desktop computer via the docking stations which are situated on top of the AV equipment box directly behind the instructors desk. Reference room overview for an image highlighting their location.
  • The desktop is already connected to class room speakers

Projecting From a Laptop

To project from a laptop it must be connected to the provided HDMI cable. This HDMI cable can be found on the back of the monitor to the right of the instructors desk (See below). Please return it to this position when finished. If your device does not have an HDMI port, then you must bring your own adapter (e.g. USB-C to HDMI)

The AV cables are all bundled together, the HDMI cable and audio jack are shown below:

Audio can be played through the HDMI cable. If audio is not functioning, check that the HDMI connection is set as the audio output device (shown below for Windows 11):

The audio jack is a backup option that can be used with laptops that support it.
