Conditions

  1. Items may be signed out on term loan through the SEPT IT Equipment Bookings webpage: https://itbookings.sept.mcmaster.ca/ or by email using a Temporary Issue card if the item is not on the IT bookings site yet. Approvals and arrangements for pickup/deliver will be done by email via the SEPT IT support email: btechts@mcmaster.ca
  2. The listed item(s) on term loan will be signed out for a maximum of one term. Upon the indicated date of return the item(s) must be returned to the SEPT IT support staff or your SEPT supervisor. They can be renewed for a subsequent term loan before the return date so long as the item(s) are not needed for other priority operational requirements or not specifically needed by another instructor that may be instructing the course for which the item(s) were possibly slated for. If you are not working for the department during the term then your request for the item(s) or renewal may be delayed until all other priority requests are fulfilled.
  3. Arrangements can be made, if allowed by the province/city COVID-19 protocols at that time, to pick up and return item(s) in mutually agreed upon locations other than the campus or for possible shipping of the item(s) if it is convenient for all parties. If an item is too big to carry in a normal vehicle then it many need to be disassembled and/or shipped by a 3rd party. However, the responsibility is yours to return the item to the campus to the IT support staff office on the due date if no such advance arrangements are made.
  4. If any of the listed item(s) should stop working, then arrangements can be made with the SEPT IT support staff to exchange for another similar item if it is available or if the operating budget allows it.
  5. The listed items are meant to be used for school business. Particularly if borrowing a laptop. Back up any data to a personal external data storage device in case the laptop has issues.
  6. The listed item(s) need to be kept with you or secured in a restricted manner. Please do not leave the listed items unattended. Of particular notation, you are requested not to store valuables within a vehicle but secure in the trunk if required to transport. Do not leave in a vehicle overnight.
  7. Any issue regarding damages or theft of this property is to be immediately reported to the SEPT IT support staff.\
  8. Any listed item(s) held overdue or not returned upon request will lead to a hold on your account for requesting further SEPT IT and Lab resources. If the item(s) were specific to a course and had to receive initial approve from a supervisor/chair then the course/stream may be restricted from borrowing any further resources until the item(s) are returned or replaced using the course/stream allotted operating funds, if available.
  9. All listed items are property of McMaster University. Some term loan items may be possibly direct shipped brand new to your home initially or as a replacement. Those items are also property of the University and are not to be construed as a personal issued item for yourself.
